Jamaica was doubled as fictional San Monique. Montego Bay, known as "Mo' Bay" to the locals, is Jamaica's second largest community. Gorgeous white-sand beaches and mangrove wetlands surround the old town, which rests at the bottom of lush green mountains. Bus and motorcycle chase scenes took place here.
A bungalow at the Half Moon Bay Club also appears as Bond's hotel room.
A number of scenes are featured at Rose Hall Garden . It is a Georgian Mansion with a stone base and a plastered upper story, high on the hillside, with a fantastic panorama over the coast. Built in the 1770s, Rose Hall was restored in the 1960s to its former splendor, with mahogany floors, interior windows and doorways, paneling and wooden ceilings. It is decorated with silk wallpaper, ornamented with chandeliers and furnished with mostly European antiques.

Runaway Bay is a long stretch of white sands situated in Saint Ann Parish on the northern coast of Jamaica. It is 16 km west of Ocho Ríos. The Runaway Caves, used as Kananga's underground lair, are a great place for tourists to visit. The history behind the caves claims that the Spanish governor Ysassi hid there before making good his escape. The caves were first known to be used by the Arawak Indians and later became the haunt of pirates and smugglers, and then a place of refuge for slaves. The caves were discovered in 1838. Since it is very popular with tourists, the best time to go is either early morning or late afternoon.
James Bond's Hotel in San Monique, Sans Souci Resort & Spa, is located two miles east from Ocho Rios. This luxurious property is situated on a high bluff of land overlooking the Caribbean sea, with terraced gardens leading right down to the sparkling blue waters.
The Ruins at the Falls restaurant is one of Ocho Rios' best-known attractions. It is a former sugar mill built in the 1800s; this restaurant boasts waterfalls and a covered bridge as part of its decor. The main dining area is in back, with its raised wooden deck encased by pools of water and vegetation growing on the walls. On the menu you'll find typical Chinese fare, Jamaican options as well as an extensive list of vegetarian dishes. It was where James Bond got a glimpse of Baron Samedi's fire dance performance here. Bond and Rosie also have picnic here.
The high cliff between Rio Nuevo Bay and the resort 'Couples' was the place where Bond gave a hang glider-kick to one of Kananga's henchmen.
The jazz funeral took place at the Charter and Durmaine Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
The exciting power boat chase was shot through the wetland swamps, Bayou, in the state of Louisiana.
