The scenes of Katniss and Gale hunting were filmed in Pisgah National Forest because of its rich, dense woodlands.
DuPont State Forest is one of the most recognizable locations in the 2012 Hunger Games. Most outdoor scenes, both from the arena and from the outskirts of District 12, were filmed here against the woodlands and its impressive waterfalls. Triple Falls and Bridal Veil Falls provided some of the most iconic shots of the Games.
Henry River Mill Village played the part of Katniss' neighborhood in District 12. It is an abandoned mill town that used to be a bustling community at industrial age. It was built as a planned community with its own textile mill, dam, water and fire-protection systems, and company store.
Atlanta's Swan House, built for prominent Atlantans Emily and Edward Inman in 1928, served as the President Snow's home and was used for spectacular party scenes showcasing the exterior of the house.
The Atlanta Marriott Marquis, metro Atlanta’s largest hotel, carries a status of prestige with a soaring 50-story atrium. It is used in one of the Capitol locations.
Kawela Bay is prominently featured in the movie as the saltwater lake in the Quell arena. Kawela Bay is stunning crescent of crystal blue popular with green sea turtles and paddle boarders. It is 30 minutes walk from Turtle Bay Resort, where many of the cast and crew stayed, along the coast during low tide.
The Manoa Valley Trail system, which became part of the Arena's jungle, is a series of strenuous hikes.
